The Archive

The Archive

The Fractured Casks archive is the continuity record behind each completed collector artefact. It is not a decorative gallery and it is not a substitute for the physical object.

The controlled documentary set consists of a Collector’s Copy intended to remain with the artefact and an Archive Copy retained as the reference record. These are counterparts of one provenance dossier; they do not create a second artwork or enlarge an edition.

The archive preserves identity across design records, source-material evidence, photographic records, completion data, certificate information and later provenance entries.

Register Identity

One unique Artefact Register Identification Number is issued to each completed collector artefact and is not reused.

Collector’s Copy

The hardback provenance dossier supplied with the artefact is intended to travel with it through future ownership.

Archive Copy

A controlled reference copy is retained to protect continuity and distinguish original issue records from later updates.

Photographic Record

Finished views, identifying cooperage details and relevant workshop evidence help distinguish one physical artefact from another.

One artefact. One register identity. One continuous record.

The archive exists to protect provenance over time: not to inflate the story, but to ensure that material, design, edition status and ownership history can remain connected.
